Music

"Music can change the world because it can change people." Bono

TACO's ministry started out using music, and it still remains one of our key art-forms. Despite some parts of the Muslim world being pretty down on music, in most places where there are lots of Muslims, there will be lots of music! And whether it's classical piano, show-off-your-chops jazz, high energy Turkish pop, hip hop or eardrum busting heavy metal, we can find an audience for it somewhere. Local language cover songs work well in some settings - as do well written original tunes, especially if they can be introduced and the inspiration behind them shared with the audience (often through translation). Foreign language music can also work well, and often we get the song lyrics translated so that local audiences can understand what it being sung. Generally, TACO doesn't use traditional Sunday morning worship songs at outreach events, although this music is important in other parts of our ministry, especially at our Kanat worship camps.

Will you join us?

So if you are a performer, whether you play strings, brass, woodwinds, traditional, non-traditional or sing, we have a place for you! You could join our house band for a single tour or longer, or use your gifts as an individual performer or songwriter. We even have some opportunities in training - either in helping you learn traditional music or in using your skills to help train some locals. Want to bring your whole band overseas? Great! We would love to work with your group on one of our tours or local outreaches.

All you have to do is click contact so that we can start chatting about a good fit for you. You can use the same form to send along to us any questions you have. We'll get back to you as soon as we can - at least before X Factor can get a hold of you.

We look forward to making music with you soon! We totally believe in the power of music, its ability to transcend cultures and language, and we are using it to change the Muslim world - sometimes one heart at a time.

Sharing in Kosovo

Music Sidebar"I have had the privilege of being on the TACO team for two years. I played viola and mandolin, and sang background vocals in the band. It has been a pleasure over my time here, to be part of many different combinations of musicians. But really, it has been such an honor to be a part of what God is doing in this part of the world...and to get to use my artistic gifts in the process!

One of the highlights of my time here was my trip to Kosovo this past year. It was my first time in the country and it was a real eye-opener to see the suffering that people in this area of the world have been through in the past couple of decades. We had many shows, but my favorite was actually an impromptu street show. One of our shows was cancelled so we decided to make good use of our time and take to the streets instead. We went to the main street in the capital city. We did little 20 minute shows and then took time to talk to people. I got to chat with a young couple and soon discovered that they didn’t feel like they had much purpose in their lives. I was able to share with them about the One who gives purpose to all I do. I also got to chat with three sisters. None of them had really thought about Jesus before. I was able to share how He has made such a difference in my life. It was such a joy to bring a little bit of Hope to this part of the world!" Rachelle
