    Zion's Call in Kazakhstan

    February 2006

Zion's Call is a pop/rock group from the USA.

    Tour Highlights

On this tour, Zion's Call collaborated with illusionist Craig Greenwood to put on great shows in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. More than 4500 children, teenagers and adults heard the Message, and some accepted Christ! Throughout the tour we ministered to various ethnic groups including Turkish and Uzbek communities. In Kazakhstan, we were blessed as always to visit pastor Pavel's Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. The residents commit to a two-year rehabilitation and training program and some stay on to minister to others. We were able to encourage each other with prayer and testimonies.

    Faceless in Turkey

    April 10 - April 22

Faceless is a Christian rock and metal group from Alaska. Their specialty is songs written from the soul with upfront, positive lyrics and heavy riffs. . Check out the Faceless website.

    Tour Highlights

Faceless is the hardest rock band TACO has brought to Turkey, and no team we have ever had has engaged the audience and made them feel a part of the event like these guys did! The trip was full of cancellations, mixed-up dates, sickness, flat tires and broken equipment. However, the band always managed to come together in time for six performances in six different cities, where their music proved a hugely effective way of reaching seekers. Many people filled out surveys to hear more about the Gospel, and several people have connected with local churches as a result.

    StoryBox in Turkey

    June 01 - June 28

Based in Istanbul, StoryBox mixes a little bit of local musical influence into their blend of Western rock/pop. In Turkey, set lists usually contain well-known Turkish pop, Western covers and original tunes - many of which tell stories. Between the songs, you can also be sure that someone will tell a story or two as well, and in recent years shows have added more dance and drama elements.

Check them out on Nimbit or ReverbNation, StoryBox uses a mix of English and Turkish pop/rock and stories (sung and spoken) to share the faith. Check out the StoryBox website.

    Tour HighlightsVideo

We decided to put together a smaller and simpler tour with some of the musicians who are resident in Turkey. The hope was that by having only three musicians, we would be able to go into places we hadn’t been before, and provide a focus for some church plants to gather existing contacts together in private settings – saving them from having to inform the authorities and letting us share the Gospel more openly. The tour was a quiet success; we were not able to engage in as many discussions as we hoped, but we were able to encourage many churches and connect seekers with local ministries. Cartwheel Galaxy featuring Steve Kercher in Turkey

    July 22 - August 03

Steve Kercher is a musician who uses modern rock to produce moving songs with Gospel themes. From a packed club room in Istanbu to a marble courtyard in an ancient city near the Mediterranean Sea; from radio stations in Japan and Boston to a city park with a sprawling sea of 40,000 souls; Cartwheel Galaxy's original, eclectic pop-rock music has been celebrated and enjoyed. As the lead songwriter, Steve Kercher finds inspiration for many of his songs from literature and history. Check out the Cartwheel Galaxy featuring Steve Kercher website.

    Tour Highlights

This tour definitely involved a lot battling via prayer! Of the five concerts originally scheduled, all but one of them fell through. Thanks to last-minute arrangements, however, Steve ended up playing 7 concerts in Kuşadası, Şelçuk, Antakya, Arsuz, Altınözü and Istanbul. We were able to share the Gospel at half these concerts and pass out some literature and surveys. One particular blessing was a surprise concert in a small village outside of Antakya. We were able to share more openly there than anywhere else and connect with a number of people who had never heard the Gospel before.

    No Longer Music in Turkey

    August 09 - August 14

"No Longer Music" (NLM) was founded in Amsterdam in 1985 by David Pierce and has been touring the world ever since. Since its formation, NLM has made its mark through its bold and creative blend of music and theater. In many ways NLM has been and continues to be a refreshing exception to a music scene rarely daring to be different. Throughout the years the style of NLM has adapted but its commitment to cutting edge visuals and theatrics has ensured that international demand for the band has stayed strong. Check out the No Longer Music website.

    Tour HighlightsVideo

The NLM concerts were a huge blessing, even though we had police harassment and quite a few cancellations! NLM provided a spectacular, in-your-face show at each of its four venues, and went on to share the Gospel forthrightly each time. At one place, we had 40 people come forward to dedicate their lives to Christ - pray that they may actually understand what that means and make contact with local churches. At all the concerts, a good number of people stayed afterwards to talk about spiritual issues. As we weren't allowed to hand out surveys, this was an incredible blessing. UniShow in Turkey

    August 20 - September 03

One Life: Dustin connects with his audience speaking from his own experiences dealing with: rejection, parents divorce, suicide, relationships, purity, perseverance, becoming a world champion and more. One Message: to live a life surrendered to Jesus Christ. One Wheel: Dustin illustrates his life and message through a one-of-akind presentation using the tool of extreme unicycling to captivate youth of all ages. Check out the UniShow website.

    Tour Highlights

Unishow was joined by Robert D'Clown, a clown/balloon artist who uses his eye-catching talents to proclaim the Gospel. We experienced a part of our vision becoming reality when a pastor and his team made good use of the event to reach their city. The pastor had his heart set on an open-air amphitheater where hundreds of youth hang out, but the municipality refused permission. So, we went there anyway! We had no problems and many filled out surveys for more information. In total, more than 600 surveys were filled out with people asking for more information about the Gospel!

    StoryBox in Kyrgyzstan

Based in Istanbul, StoryBox mixes a little bit of local musical influence into their blend of Western rock/pop. In Turkey, set lists usually contain well-known Turkish pop, Western covers and original tunes - many of which tell stories. Between the songs, you can also be sure that someone will tell a story or two as well, and in recent years shows have added more dance and drama elements.

    Tour Highlights

We were able to pick up some extra musicians (locals and internationals) to fill out the band and enable us to be a bit louder and up-beat. One highlight of the Kyrgyzstan tour was working with a believing Russian rap duo giving them a chance to serve their own people. In Lebanon, we played in a number of schools to large numbers of Muslim kids, and were able to share very openly with them. We also had a great opportunity to play in a Starbucks and talk clearly about Jesus to a couple of girls from very closed Gulf States countries.
